There are two dunes in the Kingdom of Morocco: located in the villages named as  Merzouga and Zagora.

Merzouga Desert

Merzouga is a small Saharan village located in the south-east of Morocco,  562 km from Marrakech, 50 km from Erfoud, and 669 km Atlantic coast.

the highest dunes of Morocco, is located in Merzouga. The zone named as Erg Chebbig.

Erg Chebbig or The big dunes of Merzouga  (also called edeyen) is a desert of fixed dunes.

Among all the dunes of Morocco, the great dune of Merzouga is one of the highlights.

From a height of almost 160 meters, its ascent is difficult, but the arrival at its summit guarantees an incredible ecstasy. Which measures 5kms wide over more than 20kms long.

Zagora Desert

Zagora'sname comes from Berber village “Tazagourt”, The Oasis of Zagora was the starting point of the Almoravids, who then conquered sijilmassa (next to Rissani), then the Sous, to finally found their capital in Marrakech. This is also where the Saadians left.

After 94 km of the valle of zagora you can get to the second sahara of morocco.

The activities proposed to the tourists are the camel trip, the bivouac in the desert, the quad, and, the summer, the arenotherapy (or sand bath) also called psammatotherapy.
